This December, in Taganrog, in the State Literary and Historical-Architectural A.P. Chekhov Museum-Reserve there was held an International Scientific-Practical conference “The Sources of the Creative Work of Chekhov: Biography and Poetics”. Within the frames of the conference one of the exhibition halls of the South Russian Scientific and Cultural centre of the museum opened an exhibition “Book Drawing after the Works of M.A. Sholokhov”. The exhibition exposed over 30 drawings by the famous artists-illustrators from the funds of the M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve – a whole gallery of fine images from the works of the classic of the Russian literature of the XX century. They depict different episodes from the books “And Quiet Flows the Don”, “The Don Stories”, “The Fate of a Man”, “They Fought for Their Country”. There are works of the famous masters of drawing O.G. Vereiskiy, Y.P. Rebrov, V.L. Galdyaev, Kukryniksi. All the works are marked with a variety of a creative search and design. Each of the illustrators is unique in a drawing style and in his comprehension of Sholokhov. A uniting beginning of the exposition is one of the best drawing portraits of the writer made by Y.P. Rebrov. The works exhibited will help the visitor to comprehend better the creative work of the famous writer, the world of Sholokhov’s personages, the history of the Don country. I. Koveshnikova
