A Concert of “Zarnitsa” in Oblivskaya

On September, 11, the folklore group “Zarnitsa” of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve performed for the 266th anniversary of Stanitsa Oblivskaya situated on the bank of the Chir. The Day of the Stanitsa was celebrated on the great Christian holiday of Truncation of Joan Predtecha’s Head.

The day was sunny and warm. The main square was crammed full with the residents and visitors. The improvised “kurens” (Cossack houses) attracted with tasty smells of viands and nice songs, the exhibition of folk arts and crafts delighted the guests, the children enjoyed the attractions.

The main performance took place on the stage by the House of Culture. The residents of Oblivskaya were greeted for the holiday by the best amateur groups from the neighbouring districts: they sang songs, danced, acted, did their best. “Zarnitsa” was announced “the Honoured Guest of the holiday” and given more performance time, than other groups. We did our best! We liked the audience of Oblivskaya, they gave us the warmest applause.

The performers of the “Zarnitsa” were moved with the people’s great genuine interest for our original art and their ever-being  love for the Cossack song.
