Sholokhov Readings in Vyoshenskaya

Today, on September, 21, in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya the International Scientific-Practical conference “The Up-to-Date Studies in the Work of M.A. Sholokhov: Problems, Concepts, Approaches” began its work.

According to the tradition, in the morning the guests put flowers to the bust and the tomb of the writer.

Greeting the participants of the conference the director of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve A.M. Sholokhov expressed his belief in successful and fruitful work of the conference. He noted that the speeches of the participants would be devoted to the 50th anniversary of publication of the novel “Virgin Soil Upturned”.

The first talk “Virgin Soil Upturned” by Mikhail Sholokhov: Problems of Modern Perception” was made by Y.A. Dvoryashin, the Doctor of Philological Sciences, professor of the Surgut State Pedagogical University. Further he presided at the session, on the first day of which eight speakers took the floor. A great interest was drawn by the Doctors and Candidates of philological sciences S.A. Vasiliyev, N.A. Dvoryashina, D.V. Pol and others.

A warm greeting telegram to the participants of the “Sholokhov Readings” was sent by the professor of the Sychuan University (the Chinese People’s Republic), Doctor Lu Yadin.

In the afternoon the members of the conference visited the expositions of the Museum-Reserve of M.A. Sholokhov and had a pleasure boat trip on the Don.
