Scientific Conference in Mozhaisk

The museum-workers of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve took part in the XII International Scientific conference on the subject “Cultural Landscape: Heritage Object and a Resource of Regional Development”, which was held on May, 13-15, 2009 in the town of Mozhaisk. The conference was organized by the Russian Scientific Research Institute of the Cultural and Natural Heritage named after D.S. Likhachov (the Institute of Heritage) and the State Borodinskiy Military-Historical Museum-Reserve (the Museum-Reserve “Borodinskoye Pole”).

The museum-workers Y.P. Sofina and Y.O. Kharitonova gave their talk “The Sholokhov Land as a Heritage Object and a Resource of the Regional Development”, accompanied by a video presentation.

At the conference there were discussed the problems of preserving and reconstructing the cultural landscape, its management as a heritage object. The members of the round-table talks spoke about zonation of the museum-reserves and national parks, about the development of cultural heritage legislation, exchanged their experience in attracting tourists, who are interested in history, culture and nature.
