The Deputies Discussed the Museum Problems

In Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya on the base of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve on the eve of the 104^th anniversary of the writer’s birthday the State Duma Committee on Culture held a visiting session. It was attended by the deputies of the Federal and the Rostov Region Meeting, the leaders of the regional Ministry of Culture, directors of a number of museum-reserves of the country.

The session staff was not accidental, as there was discussed a subject of the draft law, which was to draw the line at last in the long work on defining the status of the museum-reserves.

Opening the session the chairman of the Committee G.P. Ivliyev noted, that the residual principle of financing the museum activity becomes outdated, and that lately the work of the museums of Russia has gained a great attention.

He invited the workers of the museum-reserves for joint participation in framing the draft of the law, in more exact defining the activity forms peculiar for the museum-reserves.

The topicality of the subject is that the museum-reserves face a special problem to protect and preserve not only architectural, but also landscape appearance of the territories of the historic and cultural heritage.

“It is symbolic, that the great writer’s birthday coincides with the Day of the Slav Literature and Culture, - said G.P. Ivliyev, - it is the life of Sholokhov that must bring along patriotism in the young generation, and after visiting the structures of the writer’s museum-reserve it can be surely asserted that such a work goes on successfully”.

The chairman of the Rostov Region Legislative Meeting V.E. Deryabkin dwelt on the points of preserving the cultural heritage of the Don Land by all means including museum means and opportunities.

The Rostov Region Minister of Culture S.I. Vasiliyeva spoke about the problems of financing, about a lack of the standards for maintenance of the whole cultural space.

The director of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve A.M. Sholokhov speaking at the session noted, that the museum community had repeatedly introduced their propositions for the draft law, but time after time they were gelt yet at the stage of agreement. It is high time to realize, that culture is a part of the national security of the country, that without a cultural selfidentification a nation is to cease existing. He introduced a number of important propositions concerning the order of budgeting, museum management organization the work on preserving the landscape and architectural appearance of the territories, the order of registering and crossing off the register of the museum exhibits, and others. He was supported by the president of the association “Lermontov Heritage”, the director of the Museum-Estate Serednikovo M.Y. Lermontov, the director of the Azov Historical and Archaeological and Palaeontological Museum-Reserve A.A. Gorbenko.

The participants of the session expressed a common concern in amending the legislation about museums and museum-reserves.
