Young Admirers of Sholokhov at the Moscow Festival

19.05.2009

The winners in the contest “Our Sholokhov” in the nominations of artistic reciting, fine art, arts and crafts on the works by M.A. Sholokhov and Cossack everyday culture took part in the festival “Sholokhov Spring” which took place in Moscow on May, 12-16, 2009.

The  children successfully performed in the contests and won the prizes. Marianna Sokolova, a pupil of the Verkhnechirskaya school, gained the Grand Prix of the Festival. A pupil of the Karghinskaya school Anna Bocharova was granted a diploma of the first degree. Ruslan Shalaghin from the Popovskaya school and Viktoria Nikitina from the Kalininskaya school were granted diplomas.

The workers of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve organized a tour about Moscow for the children. The boys and girls had a walk about Red Square and Tsvetnoy Bulvar, saw the ceremony of relieving guard of honour by the Eternal Fire in the Aleksandrovskiy Garden, visited the Tretiyakov Picture Gallery, Armoury Museum, Polytechnic and Darwin’s Museums.

In the Armoury Museum they viewed the unique collections of the Treasure House comprised of the Princely Treasury, founded by Ivan Kalita, ancestral relics of the great princes, the presents of the monarchs from the West and East, the articles of the official ceremonial, the collection of gold and silver works of art by Russian and West-European masters, the fine collections of fabrics of the civil costume and gala attire of the clergy, as well as those of horse furnishings and carriages. Each exhibit of the Armoury Museum is a visual miracle and the children were much impressed.

In the Museum of Darwin they were merely overwhelmed by seeing elephants, giraffes, white and brown bears, foxes, tigers, wolves, lions, snakes and various birds, which stuffed figures were exhibited visually displaying the variety of the animal world on our planet.

The tour of the young admirers of Sholokhov’s creative work to Moscow was organized under the support of the administrations of the Bokovskiy and Sholokhov districts, and the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve.
