News“The Sholokhov Source” is the Winner in “The National Ecological Prize” Contest04.12.2009The project of the State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve “The Children and Youth’s Movement “The Sholokhov Source” is 10 Years Old” won in the contest “The National Ecological Prize” in 2009 in the nomination “Ecological Culture”. At the ceremony of rewarding the winners and laureates of the contest, which took place on the 2nd of December, 2009, in the President Hall of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the director of the Museum A.M. Sholokhov was handed in the symbol of the Prize – a Big Statuette, a money reward and the corresponding certificates. The prize was established by the Fund named after V.I. Vernadskiy and the Committee on ecology of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. In our country it is the only prize for achievements in ecology and a contribution to the stable ecological development. The peculiarity of “The National Ecological Prize” was the terms of participation in the contest of realized projects only, which had already been embodied in practice and gave a positive effect in the field of environment protection. This year the main prize was competed for by the leading scientific research institutions, museums, industrial enterprises and official organizations from 48 subjects of the Russian Federation. The project “The Children - Youth’s Movement “The Sholokhov Source” is 10 Years Old” headed by the assistant director on ecology and rational land use, the Doctor of agricultural sciences T.Y. Turchin, joined the young ecologists and their teachers for cooperation in the study of the unique wildlife of the Don land and for spreading the creative work heritage of M.A. Sholokhov, who paid great attention to the solution of ecological problems. The honourary reward marked the recognition of merits of the Museum-Reserve in the sphere of environment protection and a rational land use, ecological education and upbringing of the younger generation.
