The First Museum Collection Catalogue has been Published
21.04.2009The State M.A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve has set to publishing a catalogue of its museum collection. The first catalogue was “Sholokhov’s Word on the Postcard”.
It was issued by the Rostov-on-Don publishing house “Omega Publisher”, exquisitely designed, supplied with a scientific commentary and a complete collection of photo illustrations. It was composed by L.T. Afanasiyeva, a scientific worker of the documentary deposit department.
M.A. Sholokhov is well-known to have visited many foreign countries and the most part of the collection is represented by the postcards sent from abroad. Many incriptions bear a peculiar Sholokhov’s humour.
The collection chronologically covers the period of 1941-1979. The author’s texts on the postcards are reproduced from the original, in a complete volume, characterizing in their way the remote times and the author himself.
The Museum is preparing for publication two more catalogues, which will be devoted to the most interesting collections of books and fine art.
