New Year Meetings at the Museum
24.12.2008The youth program department of the state Sholokhov museum-reserve held a series of New Year meetings with schoolchildren, each being full of interesting activities, games and contests.
The boys and girls took part in the merry New Year performance as well as they learned the history of the song “Once there Lived a Little Fur-Tree in the Forest”, they saw genuine New Year’s tree decorations of the 30-50-s, they made a clay replica of the old toy from the Sholokhovs’ house.
The children took an interest in looking at the Sholokhovs’ New Year postcards, they listened attentively to the recollections of the writer’s daughters Svetlana Mikhailovna and Mariya Mikhailovna about the traditions of preparing for and celebrating the New Year.
The Sholokhov secondary school teacher Tatiyana Vasiliyevna Tsokur told the children about her lucky chance in the remote 1950-s to take part in the New Year party in the house of Mikhail Alexandrovich.
According to the tradition of the Sholokhovs’ family, each schoolchild who had participated in the New Year party was presented with New Year’s piece of decoration.
