The People Dressed in Silver

24.03.2008

“The People Dressed in Silver” is an exhibition of the National Museum of Chuvashia of which the opening ceremony was held on March, 20, 2008, in the Narodny Dom of the Sholokhov State Museum-Reserve. It was a replying event of the Minister of Culture of the Chuvashian Republic: at the National Book festival called “Between the Volga and the Sura” held last year in Cheboksary in the Chuvashian National Museum there was arranged an exhibition from our Museum-Reserve depository “The Wars of Russia in the XX century in the Works of M.A. Sholokhov”. At the festival the museum folklore group “Zarnitsa” (director V. Koshkina) performed successfully.

“The People Dressed in Silver” is the fourth exhibition arranged by the expositioners of the Sholokhov Museum. Some time before the residents and guests of the Stanitsa saw the exhibition of the masters of lacquered miniature from Palekh, visited the exhibition of the Painters’ Society “In the Native Land of Sholokhov”.

The workers of the Chuvashian National Museum headed by Eduard Konstantinovich Bakhmisov brought exhibits of ethnographic collection: ancient  everyday-life articles, the authors’ works of modern artists in costume, wood engravings and patterns of Chuvashian folk embroidery.

During the presentation of the exhibition from Chuvashia the directors of the museums – E.K. Bakhmisov and A.M. Sholokhov enterchanged valuable presents, the guests enjoyed the performance of the folk song group “Zarnitsa” followed by visiting the exhibition of the Chuvashian National Museum.

A special success at the presentation was gained by the demonstration of the authors’ modern dresses with elements of the Chuvashian national clothes. This interesting collection was demonstrated by the girls – students of the Veshensky Teacher Training College named after M.A. Sholokhov.

The workers of the National Museum of Chuvashia visited our Stanitsa last year, they planted a blue fir-tree near the building of Narodny Dom. And in November in Cheboksary near the monument to the national poet Peter Khuzangay the delegation of museum workers from Veshenskaya planted lilac bushes “Sholokhov”.

The exposition of the Chuvashian National museum “The People Dressed in Silver” will work in the house of Narodny Dom till late in May. You are welcome!
