The Estate of Mikhail Sholokhov is Opened After Restoration

On September 12, 2020, the official opening of the central object of the National Sholokhov Museum-Reserve “The Estate of Mikhail Sholokhov” opened the doors to visitors after the completion of the restoration work.

Comprehensive restoration of the cultural heritage site of the museum ensemble, including the memorial house, an outbuilding, a shed with a glacier, a garage, was carried out from 2017 to 2020 at the expense of funds allocated from the federal budget and the museum's own funds.

More than 100 thousand people visit the homeland of the writer, the stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, and the center of attraction for all is the Estate of Mikhail Sholokhov.

A symbolic ribbon in honor of the opening of the Estate of Mikhail Sholokhov was slaughtered by Vasily Golubev, Alexander Sholokhov, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Culture of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, and Olga Anistratenko, the director of the National Sholokhov Museum-Reserve.

“This place is associated with the great man who glorified the land of the Don and Russia. The legacy that we have left continues to live on. That is very important. After all, we have no other way apart from preserving all this, passing it on to future generations and inviting young people here. They must also be imbued with this spirit in order to continue building a new country, our Russia. It is difficult to imagine the future of Russia without the works of Mikhail Sholokhov”, Vasily Golubev said.

Alexander Sholokhov: “Today we are opening not just the main place of our museum. We are discovering one of the main places of world literature".
