All-Russian Literary Action-Recitation "Together with Sholokhov "They Fought for their Country”

19.05.2020

May 24, 2020 National Sholokhov Museum-Reserve announces the start of the All-Russian literary action-recitation "Together with Sholokhov "They Fought for their Country". The action will begin on the birthday of the great son of Russia, Nobel laureate Mikhail Sholokhov. 115 well-known representatives of culture, art, and politics will start online reciting the chapters of the novel "They Fought for their Country".

The grandson of the writer, first deputy chairman of the culture committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, president of ICOM of Russia Alexander Sholokhov will open the action. The first lines of the novel will also be performed by the adviser to the President of the Russian Federation on culture Vladimir Tolstoy, the Governor of the Rostov region Vasily Golubev, and the Minister of Culture of Russia Olga Lyubimova. Famous politicians and writers, artists and businessmen, philanthropists and doctors, scientists and athletes will continue the marathon throughout the year.

The work “They Fought for Their Country” was not chosen by chance. One of the most tragic moments of the Second World War, the retreat of our troops on the Don in the summer of 1942, describing which, the author was brave enough to talk openly about the difficulties and mistakes of those days. The chapters of the novel contain a deep knowledge of the people, the truth of history and the truth of art. As with all his work, Sholokhov says that a real person in any trials remains a person. And of course, in the Year of Memory and Glory, the chapters of the novel about the Great Patriotic War will be performed by veterans, who, together with the author, survived the events of those years.

The Sholokhov word is in demand today as never before. And his lessons of an honest, principled and courageous man who has endlessly loved his Country are more important for us today than ever.

The action will last throughout the anniversary of 2020, broadcasts will be conducted on the pages of the National Sholokhov Museum-Reserve on social networks:
