National Sholokhov Museum-Reserve Invites on “Night of Museums - 2020” Online!

15.05.2020

May 16, 2020 Sholokhov Museum Reserve will take part in the annual all-Russian action “Night of Museums - 2020”. Due to the unfavorable epidemiological situation, the action will change its format and will be held in the online format for the first time in 15 years!

This year, “Night of Museums” is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

As part of this action, the museum has prepared events that will take place online:

- video lecture “Unfinished novel”, in which the writer’s grandson, First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Culture of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Alexander Sholokhov will tell about the history of the creation of the unfinished novel “They Fought for their Country”

- video lecture “Collection of objects from the front line of the Sholokhov Territory”, in which the main curator of the Sholokhov Museum-Reserve Natalia Tishchenko will talk about a collection of items related to the hostilities taking place in our area in 1942. The collection contains unique items: an ampoule gun, a full set of uniforms of an Italian officer, etc. The fierce battles that took place in the Sholokhov district in 1942 became a turning point in the Great Patriotic War. The preservation of the reconquered area on the right bank of the Don subsequently gave the Soviet troops the opportunity to successfully carry out the Stalingrad offensive operation.

- the literary and musical composition “They Fought for their Country”, telling about the writer’s front-line weekdays, the fate of his fellow countrymen during the war, and the history of the creation of the Sholokhov books about the Great Patriotic War. The program was attended schoolchildren, laureates of the International television festival-competition "Father's House" (Donetsk, Ukraine), teachers and students of the Children's Art School named after Mily Balakirev (Moscow), employees of the National Sholokhov Museum-Reserve.

- a concert “And yet we won”, organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the National Sholokhov Museum-Reserve and Rostov Regional House of Folk Art.
