Photo Exhibition “Daysaku Ikeda. Dialogue With Nature" Will be Open in the Stanitsa Karginskaya

February 25, 2020 in the stanitsa Karghinskaya, on the Estate of Timofey Karghin, the photo exhibition “Daisaku Ikeda. Dialogue with nature”, organized by the National Sholokhov Museum-Reserve in collaboration with Japan's largest secular Buddhist organization Soka Gakkai International (SGI).

Daisaku Ikeda is a prominent writer, publicist, honorary president of SGI, a member of the Austrian Society of Artists, an honorary member of the Singapore Society of Photographers and winner of the UN Peace Prize. He highly appreciated the work of Mikhail Sholokhov. In 1974, as part of his first visit to the USSR, he turned to the host country with a single but urgent request - "to facilitate a meeting with Sholokhov." And the meeting took place, as the photographs presented at the exhibition will tell. “Over the years, your words and your voice appear lighter and clearer in my soul, as an invaluable gift I received from life,” Ikeda wrote in his essay on Mikhail Sholokhov.

During his trips around the world he tried using the camera to capture the fleeting beauty of nature. “I have to take pictures whenever and wherever such an opportunity arises - from a car or airplane window during a move, in between official events. But everyday workload still does not obscure the beauty of this world - mysteriously, but it is everywhere”, Ikeda noted. The objects of his photography were mainly landscapes, nature. The writer accompanied photographs with his essays and poems.

In 1982, at the suggestion of professional photographers, the first exhibition of his photographs in Japan was held - "Dialogue with Nature." Since then, it has travelled to more than 140 cities in 40 countries, including France, Sweden, Austria, Russia, China, the USA, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Australia and others. At the end of 2019, in honor of the 45th anniversary of the meeting between Daisaku Ikeda and Mikhail Sholokhov, the exhibition was exhibited at the Sholokhov-Center.

In the year of the 115th anniversary of the birth of Mikhail Sholokhov its journey around the world exhibition “Daisaku Ikeda. Dialogue with Nature” begins with the stanitsa where the literary work of the Nobel laureate began. It will be presented in the stanitsa Karghinskaya from February 25 to May 23, 2020.
