Hotel “At the Mill” Earned Award “Traveller Review Award”

Mini-hotel "At the Mill", located on the territory of the Mill Complex (Estate of Timofey Karghin) of the Sholokhov Museum-Reserve in the village of Karginskaya, was awarded the Traveller Review Award for 2020 according to Booking.com. It is a recognition that travelers are provided with highly professional and quality accommodation services. 

Booking.com is the world's largest travel platform for booking hotels and other accommodations. It traditionally rewards partners who provide exceptional service in a wide variety of travel services. To be awarded a prize, the average mark must be at least 8.0 points (on a 10-point scale). The calculation was made on October 31, 2019 based on at least 5 customer reviews. Mini-hotel "At the mill" received a score of 9.7 points.

At the museum objects of the village of Karghinsky related to the life of Mikhail Sholokhov in 1910-1926, visitors will learn about the years of study of the would-be writer, about the beginning of his literary work, as well as get acquainted with the life of the Cossacks of the beginning of the twentieth century. At the Parish School, they will see a memorial class in which young Misha Sholokhov studied, textbooks, uniforms and school supplies of the first half of the twentieth century, learn about the development of education in Don farms and villages. 

Hotel guests will be able to see the famous rolling mill of the rich Cossack Timofey Karghin, which Mikhail Sholokhov described in the novel "And the Quiet Flows the Don", the cinematography "Ideal", on the stage of which young Sholokhov began to embody his dramatic talent, participating in amateur productions plays. 

An interactive tour will introduce guests to the concerns of the Cossack-grower, with the traditions of distillation in the Upper Don. On the "bridge of desires", connecting the banks of the river Chir, guests can make a wish and throw a coin in the water as a keepsake, take a walk through the Garden of Russian Writers named after Mikhail Sholokhov, enjoy the nature of the Don region, listen to Cossack songs. 

Sessions of black-and-white silent cinema and the opportunity to take pictures in Cossack costumes in the interior of an old photo salon are very popular with guests.
