Preservation of the Heritage of Cossacks in the Novy Urengoy

Sholokhov Museum-Reserve took part in the scientific-practical conference on the development of the Cossacks “Preservation of the historical, cultural and spiritual-moral heritage of the Cossacks in Russia at the present stage”, which was held on November 27, 2019 in Novy Urengoy, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District.

The conference was organized with the assistance of the Department of External Relations of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, the Salekhard Diocese, the Synodal Committee of the Russian Orthodox Church for Cooperation with the Cossacks, the Ob-Polar Separate Cossack Society of the Siberian Military Cossack Society, the Government of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District and the Administration of Novy Urengoy.

Among the pressing topics of the conference there were discussed such as the current state of the Cossacks, the role of museums as social institutions in preserving the Cossack culture, the development of a system of continuous Cossack education, the interaction of the Russian Orthodox Church with the military Cossack societies and public organizations of the Cossacks in Russia and abroad.

The conference was held in the format of a video studio with a total number of participants of more than 125 people from municipalities of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen and the village of Vyoshenskaya, Rostov Region.

The representatives of the Sholokhov Museum-Reserve made presentations on “Preservation and Presentation of Cultural Heritage in the Sholokhov Museum-Reserve"," The role of the Sholokhov Museum-Reserve in preservation of the Don Cossack culture. The continuity of generations".

Long friendly relations have been connected the Sholokhov Museum-Reserve with the Ob-Polar Separate Cossack Society, the Department of External Relations of the Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District. Currently, the Siberian Cossacks Unity is in the process of an active development, it now acts as the most important factor in the formation of moral education of the youth. Cooperation of the Sholokhov Museum-Reserve and the Cossack society opens up opportunities for the implementation of various educational projects aimed at developing the spiritual and moral potential of the younger generation, strengthening the historically important traditions of the Cossack culture in modern society.
