Honorary Guests of the Karginskaya Fair

08.10.2019

On October 5-6, 2019 the Sholokhov Museum-Reserve was visited by: Alexander Yaroshuk, Russian politician, State Duma deputy; Pavel Astakhov, attorney, TV presenter, writer, current state adviser to the Russian Federation; Dmitry Dibrov, Russian journalist, showman, TV presenter and Vladimir Goncharov, director of the winery “Elbuzd”.

The program of stay in the homeland of the great writer Mikhail Sholokhov was rich and interesting. Acquaintance with the National Museum-Reserve began with village Kruzhilinsky, the birthplace of the writer. The delegation was waiting for a tour of the house and the Sholokhovs' estate and the Cossack farmstead of the late XIX - early XX centuries. Here, guests received a vivid idea of ??the life of the Don Cossacks, which Mikhail Sholokhov described in his novel "And Quiet Flows the Don".

The second day began with a visit to the Sholokhov’s Estate and literary exposition "Mikhail Sholokhov. Time and Fate”. The bright impression of the second day was the “Karginskaya fair”. As part of the official delegation, our guests got acquainted with the farmstead of the Cossack Timofei Kargin and the location of the festival, took part in the selection of winners of the "Pumpkin feast" and "Best Cossack farmstead" contests. The old mill and the cinema “Ideal” were of particular interest.

The days on the Sholokhov land have slid by leaving each of the guests an indelible impression of seen the Don open spaces, of the places associated with the life and work of the great writer Sholokhov, of acquaintance with the history and cultural traditions of the Upper Don.
