The Friendship Between The Sholokhov Museum and Abkhazia

Director of the National Sholokhov Museum-Reserve Olga Anistratenko paid a visit to Sukhum (Republic of Abkhazia), where on September 21-23, 2019 bilateral agreements on cooperation of the Museum-Reserve with three cultural and educational institutions of the republic were signed: Abkhaz Institute for Humanitarian Studies named after DI. Gulia (director Arda Ashuba), National Library of the Republic of Abkhazia named after I.G. Papaskir (director Boris Chularia), Abkhaz State University (rector Aleko Gvaramiya).

The signing of the agreements took place on the initiative of professor Oleg Etlukhov - a member of the Union of Writers of Russia, Doctor of Economics, a participant in the creation of the Russian Writers' Garden named after Mikhail Sholokhov in 2018 in the village of Karginsky and a participant of the XXI International Scientific and Practical Conference “Study of the work of Mikhail Sholokhov at the present stage: problems, concepts, approaches ”(Sholokhov readings), which took place in September this year in the homeland of the great writer in stanitsa Vyoshenskaya.

The agreements signed in Sukhum are designed to develop and strengthen bilateral cultural, enlightening, scientific, educational ties, contribute to the preservation, study, popularization of the historical, literary and cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia and the Republic of Abkhazia, the creative heritage of the great writer of the twentieth century Mikhail Sholokhov. In particular, a classroom named after Mikhail Sholokhov will be created at the Abkhaz State University, teachers and students of the university will conduct research on the events in the biography of Mikhail Sholokhov related to Abkhazia, to study translations of Sholokhov's works into the Abkhaz language.

The parties noted mutual interest in the implementation of scientific and creative projects, both joint and in the form of exchange, holding joint events aimed at military-patriotic, spiritual, moral and civil education of the younger generation.

During a visit to the Republic of Abkhazia, the director of the Sholokhov Museum-Reserve Olga Anistratenko met with the Chairman of the Board of the Russian Cultural Center Natalya Kayun and the head of the representative office of Russian cooperation in the Republic of Abkhazia Vadim Chekh. Agreements were reached with the organizations to establish mutual contacts.

In addition, the director of the Museum-Reserve answered the questions of Alkhas Chkhamaliya, the chief editor of the newspaper “Abkhazian University”, a member of the Journalists Union of the Republic of Abkhazia, a member of the Association of Writers of the Republic of Armenia, Honorary Member of the European Association of Universities and teachers of the Higher School of Economics.
