NewsFriendly Ties Grow Stronger05.08.2019On August 6, 2019, the exhibition “Remember, Quiet Don, Your Children” dedicated to the First World War will open in the famous village of Prokhorovka. The exhibition tells about the war witnessed by Don Cossacks and embodied in the immortal Sholokhov’s novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”, about the war, which became an ordeal for our country, which lost about two million people on the fronts. Its tragic consequences were the revolution, devastation, the Civil War and the death of imperial Russia. The visitor will be interested in genuine exhibits of that era: military equipment, weapons, ammunition, military awards. Also the exhibition shows interesting collections of postcards that were sent from the front and popular prints depicting military battles. The exhibition will run at the State Military Historical Museum-Reserve “Prokhorovskoye Pole” from August to October. For a long time the State Museum-Reserve of M.A. Sholokhov and the museums of Belgorod country have been connected by friendship and creative ties, which, we hope, will grow stronger and develop.
