Exhibition “The 35th Anniversary of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov”

On July 11, 2019, the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve marked its 35th anniversary. In honour of this significant date the excursion and exhibition Museum centre “People’s House” started showing the exhibition telling about the history of the Museum from the moment of its foundation up to the present day, the main areas of its work, achievements and awards, and the nearest prospects.

The National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve carries out an important social and cultural educational mission contributing to the preservation of the spiritual and material culture of the region.

The Museum activities mainly focus at domestic, military, economic, cultural traditions of the Don Cossacks, which evolved over the centuries as a result of a specific way of life. Preservation of the architectural monuments and folk traditions are presented at the exhibition in a series of photographs “before” and “after”. The objects of the Museum before and after restoration, the Cossack traditions that the museum staff carefully preserve and present not only in the form of exhibits at the museum exhibitions, but also by holding annual literary and ethnographic holidays: “Steed is the Dearest for Cossack (Cossack Martial Arts of Vyoshenskaya)”, “Kruzhilin Toloki”, “Karghin Fair on Intercession Days”.

The activities of the Museum-Reserve of M.A. Sholokhov – exhibitional, excursion-tourist, research, environmental and educational – are marked on the geographical map with flags of different colours to create a visual picture, to present the large-scale work, which is not limited to the territory of our country. Besides, each visitor can contribute to the history of the Museum marking the place he came from with a flag of a certain colour.

The Museum-Reserve has a lot of plans; many other new pages of the “Open Air Novel” will be opened. And the projects of the museum sites renovation are a clear confirmation of this.

We welcome everyone to the exhibition “The 35th Anniversary of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov”, which will run until December 2019, at the excursion and exhibition centre “People’s House” in: 66, Podtyolkov Str., Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya.
