Summer in the Museum

03.07.2019

The summer came making the Children Museum Centre especially popular and lively. The children resting in the recreational areas of the Sholokhov District schools, Extracurricular Work Centre and guests of the stanitsa enthusiastically join the interactive programs developed by the Museum workers.

In games, the children discover for themselves the old world of Cossacks, the Don Cossack life and traditions.

During the museum classes and workshops the young visitors acquire some practical skills in making handicrafts of clay, fabric, bast and thread. They enthusiastically paint wooden spoons, draw a tulip (a symbol of Sholokhov country steppe) on a transparent film, make decorations from decorative felt and crepe paper wedding flowers similar to those that decorated Cossack wedding celebrations.

The museum workers prepared and brought an educational program for the children of the health centres of the Kashary, Millerovo, Oblivsky and Bokovsky districts. Through the game “We are Building a Cossack Farmstead” the modern schoolchildren made “a trip to the past”, where everyone could assemble a layout of a Cossack house (a kuren), outbuildings, asummer stove and a well, examined the elements of the Cossack architecture: shutters and sandriks. The children enthusiastically took part in the museum workshops telling about the life and work of M.A.Sholokhov, history and culture of the Don country.

The time spent by the children in the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov was full of bright impressions.
