Folklore Expedition from Moscow

On June 21, 2019, the sites of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov were visited by the students of the Russian Gnesin Academy of Music.

The Moscow Folklore Centre organized the students’ expedition to the Upper Don of the Rostov Region. For six years they have been studying and collecting the folklore in the villages and stanitsas of the Volgograd Region, and this year the geography of their studies includes the Rostov Region.

Following the excursion in the People’s House the young actors, ensemble “Kolesnitsa” performed several folk songs for the museum workers, and on June 24, they gave a big concert on the stage of the People’s House. The viewers enjoyed the performance of the ensemble “Volnitsa” from Samara and Moscow duets “Donskoy Duet” and “Donskaya Vyas”. The program included songs on the poems by A.S.Pushkin, songs from the film “The Quiet Don” by the film director S.A.Gerasimov, and the Don songs – the results of their ethnographic work.

This autumn, the folk groups are planning their tour with an expanded program to Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya.
