Action “Clean Country”

A volunteer action “Clean Country” took place on the observation platform “Lebyazhy Yar”, the territory of the natural site of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve. It was timed to the World Environment Day and aimed at attracting people to the problems of the environment pollution and development of respect for nature in young people.

The action “Clean Country” is annually held in most cities of Russia. This year it started in the Don country. The action was joined by the workers of the Museum-Reserve, volunteers and activists of the Sholokhov department of the All-Russian Public Organization “Molodaya Gvardiya Yedinoy Rossii”. The participants of the environment landing party scavenged and cleaned the territory of this natural sight.

Lebyazhy Yar was one of the favourite resting places of the great Russian writer M.A.Sholokhov. It offers a stunning, breathtaking view of the River Don, floodplain forests and white chalk mountains.This place attracts both locals and guests.Tourists visiting Vyoshenskaya try to be sure to go to this steep bank of the River Don. But, unfortunately, after their visits there is often garbage left, though it would seem to be so simple – pick it up and remove it after yourselves.

Such actions help to preserve clean and beautiful environment around us. And we hope that the locals and tourists coming to see beautiful Sholokhov sites will be able to appreciate the work of the environment landing party and will be careful for the wildlife keeping it clean and tidy.
