Theatre Treasures in the Museum of M.A.Sholokhov

On June 7, 2019, in the Year of Theatre in Russia, Sholokhov-Centre of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov will start showing an exhibition “Moscow Art Theatre is the XX Century.Theatre Treasures” from the Museum of the Moscow Art Academic Theatre.

The exhibition will show unique priceless exhibits, theatre treasures: costumes, posters, sketches and scenery layouts, photos of all Chekhov’s productions, performances “Tsar Fyodor Ioannovich”, “Crazy Day, or The Marriage of Figaro”, “Othello”, “Anna Karenina”, “Snegurochka”, “A Month in the Village”, which are significant in the life of the Art Theatre. Each item keeps not only the history of the theatre, which is more than 120 years old, but also the memory of the people who created it.

The innovation of the Art Theatre was not only in the director’s work, the play of actors, but also in theatrical-decorative art. Many talented artists worked over the theatre performances – V.A.Simov, V.V.Dmitriyev, P.V.Vilyams, A.Y.Golovin, M.V.Dobuzhinsky, N.A.Shifrin, V.G.Serebrovsky, V.Y.Levental, D.L.Borovsky, N.P.Lamanova, and others. The exhibition enables the visitors to understand the life of the theatre.

The exhibition will run in Sholokhov-Centre of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov (125/69, Bolshaya Sadovaya, Rostov-on-Don) from June 7, till September 9, 2019.
