Rostov Students Visited the Homeland of M.A.Sholokhov

07.05.2019

The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, during May 2–6, 2019, held a visiting practice “Vyoshki-2019” for the students of school № 96 “Evrika-Razvitiye” of Rostov-on-Don. The program was informative: the children visited the Museum exhibitions and expositions, joined the literary ethnographic holiday “Steed is the Dearest for Cossack”, took part in the workshops.

The Rostov students got interested visiting the Museum sites, discovered for themselves new pages of the life and work of M.A.Sholokhov, observed the sights of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya. The practice members visited Kruzhilin Village, a homeland of the writer, Stanitsa Karghinskaya, where the writer spent his childhood and youth, visited the cinema “Ideal” and watched a silent film “Revelry of Stenka Razin on the Volga” made by the founder of the Russian cinematograph I.Khanzhonkov in 1908. Besides, the students made a walking tour to the natural monument “Giant Oak of Vyoshenskaya”.

The children were especially delighted by the literary ethnographic holiday “Steed is the Dearest for Cossack” which took place at the Museum Stables. During the tour the students learned how little Cossacks from their childhood were trained for the military service, were developed skills of keeping in saddle and location.

The boys took part in the interactive educational game “Sporty Little Cossacks”, filled out the “recruit” registration card of the Vyoshensky Yurt and passed the tests. They successfully overcame the “Crossing”,” Intersection of Seven Roads”, “Surfs”, “Impassable Thicket” showing their boldness, dexterity and wit.

Based on the results of the practice “Vyoshki-2019” a conference was held, where the children presented their creative works on the books by M.A.Sholokhov and on the domestic culture of the Upper Don Cossacks. Leaving Sholokhov country the students were brightly impressed and full of creative prospects.
