“Children Sholokhov Spring” will Run in Three Areas

On May 24, 2019, the birthday of M.A.Sholokhov, an All-Russian literary folklore holiday will open. Its bright page will be “Children Sholokhov Spring”, which will be held in Stanitsa Karghinskaya and Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya. It will join talented children from different parts of our country.

The holiday will begin at the Farmstead of T.A.Karghin in Stanitsa Karghinskaya which was closely related to the life and work of the great writer. The boys and girls will get into the wonderful world of history, art and technical creativity.

The concert program will be joined by young circus performers from Moscow and over 30 folk groups of the Rostov and Volgograd regions.

In the Year of Theatre in Russia, the young guests will meet with theatre art. In the cinematograph “Ideal”, which was opened more than 100 years ago, the children will see performances “Swan Geese” and “Little Friends of Belosnezhka” presented by the folk puppet theatre “Teremok” from Zimovniki the Rostov Region. The life-size puppets will tell the little viewers a new version of the well-known tales, and then the young theatregoers will be invited for the unique exhibition “In the World of Fairy Tales”, where they will see handmade puppets – rod puppets, life-size puppets, glove puppets and marionettes.

The children will tour around the old mill, which was depicted in the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”, will see mill equipment of the early XX century, will learn about the features of the flour mill business, and then, in the open air, they will learn how Cossacks grew grain, what cultures they raised, what agricultural implements they used, and could take part in peeling grain and grinding it in the hand mill.

The teachers from the Young Technicians’ Station from Azov will train the children to send messages by shortwaves. The young constructors will make paper models of a plane. Passing through the “Bridge of Wish” to the opposite bank of the River Chir they will be able to make a rocket model and launch it. Here, there will be a demonstration on the water of a ride quality of radio-controlled ship models and a solar powered boat made by the young technicians from Azov.

The little children will get to the “Home Zoo”, where they will ride on ponies, meet with goats and rabbits, and will feed them.

The children will be able to show their talents of artists, designers and craftsmen. Different workshops will train them in weaving, pottery, pottery painting, ball modeling and face painting.

In the central square, an exhibition “The World through Children’s Eyes” will have a run. The visitors will see drawings and handicraft articles by young artists and masters of arts and crafts dedicated to the work of M.A.Sholokhov and the Don country.

The literary area “We are Reading Sholokhov” will sound fragments of the writer’s works performed by the winners of the creative contest “Our Sholokhov”.

The children will join a tour about the parish school, where the would-be Nobel Prize winner studied, will know what subjects little Cossacks were taught early in the XX century, what games they played, how they prepared for military service. Here, the children can try themselves in the skills of Cossack martial arts: throwing a lance and a knife, cutting rods, lassoing a horse and correct sitting down in the saddle.

For the first time the children holiday will include Cup competitions “Hope of May”, a mini-football tournament for young sportsmen. The holiday program in Stanitsa Karghinskaya will end with a gala concert.

In Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, on May 24, during the holiday “Children Sholokhov Spring” the children will tape part in the program dedicated to the Year of Theatre in Russia. The children audience will be shown a merry and kind performance, a tale “Well Done, Mytsyk!” of the folk theatre “Magic Lantern” from Taganrog. The young viewers will meet a smart inventor, little mouse Mytsyk and a cat Kytsyk, and will play with them.

In front of the Palace of Culture of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, there will be held a children holiday “Vyoshenskiye Vesnushki” with songs, dances and games.

On May 25, the “theatre program” will continue: the People’s House of the Museum-Reserve will show a puppet performance “Little Friends of Belosnezhka” by the folk puppet theatre “Teremok”.

The young guests will enjoy many other amusements and fun of the big holiday “Sholokhov Spring”.
