A Tree of Victory was Planted in Sholokhov Museum

07.05.2019

A ceremony of planting a Tree of Victory, a symbol of courage and fortitude of the people, who defeated fascism, took place on May 5, 2019, in the forest park of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov. The ceremony was participated by A.M.Sholokhov, the First Deputy Chairman of the Committee for Culture of the RF State Duma, O.A.Anistratenko, Director of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, and S.I.Fedyukin, Head of the archery club “Labirint”.

Today, the most famous poplar of the country is Stalingradsky Poplar growing on the Alley of Heroes in Volgograd. This living monument is over 80. The tree was a living witness of the Stalingrad battle and heroic feat of the Soviet people in the victory over fascism.

In June 2013, the Botanical Garden researchers carried out a procedure for the removal of 20 buds of this tree. All they have successfully passed the cloning stage. Now the “offsprings” of the most famous poplar adorn the squares of Sebastopol, Murmansk, Penza, Astrakhan, Nizhni Novgorod, Ulyanovsk and the Republic of Ingushetia. Before the Great Victory Day, one poplar seedling was planted in the forest park on the territory of the Stables of the Sholokhov Museum-Reserve.
