Elina Bystritskaya will not Come to Vyoshki Anymore…

Again the sky and the shining disk of the sun turned black over us… The message of the death of Elina Avraamovna Bystritskaya, the USSR People’s Actress, the best Aksinya of all the screen versions of Sholokhov’s “The Quiet Don”, plunged the museum workers and residents of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya into a deep sorrow.

It was this very cinema with participation of E.A.Bystritskaya, that in 1956, the people eager to see it walked on foot and went by horse from the farthest villages, even very old people unable to leave their houses for years. Having seen the film once they sought to see it again.

Aksinya performed by Bystritskaya captured the Don people by their heart not only for her outer beauty, but also, having lived for some time in Cossack families, for her spiritual understanding of a peculiar way of their life. How deeply the actress understood it! Henceforth, in all her speeches, in all her interviews, she reverently and respectfully spoke about those people, about the novel, about her partners, the filming and, of course, about Sholokhov.

After that success Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya for many years had been waiting for a visit of its Aksinya. Somehow it did not work. And now it is clear: it has failed to wait for her…
