NewsSholokhov Museum-Reserve Welcomes to the Holiday “Steed is the Dearest for Cossack”16.04.2019On May 5, 2019, a literary and ethnographic holiday “Steed is the Dearest for Cossack” favourite of the residents and guests of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, dedicated to the Great Victory Day and the birthday of M.A.Sholokhov will take place at the Stables of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov. The holiday, where the main heroes are the Cossack and his faithful horse, will tell about the life style of the Don Cossacks, military service traditions, upbringing little Cossacks and training them in the art of fighting. The guests of the holiday will become participants of exciting events that will be shown to adults and children. The program will open with the Cossack pentathlon competitions joined by the teams of the Sholokhov, Bokovsky, Millerovso districts and a united team from different parts of the country. The viewers can cheer on their favourite team and show their own courage and skills in throwing a lance and a knife, shooting, cutting a moving and a fixed target and in saddling. The artistic and ethnographic composition “Thank God, We are Cossacks!” will take the viewers to the past, and together with the actors they will go through the pages of the famous Don country history, will learn about the feats of our forefathers and their selfless love of their native land. The residents and guests of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya will take part in the farewell ceremony of recruits joining military service, will see exciting equestrian performances, fancy riding and a Cossack attack. In the Cossack field camp you will see demonstration performances of young athletes, will learn about the training success of young cadets, and will hear folk Cossack songs. Lovers of shooting will be able to visit a shooting club, where one can hit the target from the traditional and block bows and airguns – Makarov and Stechkin pistols, Mosin rifle, Kalashnikov assault rifle and Shpagin machine pistol. For the first time the holiday will be joined by the motocycle club “Nochniye Volki” (Night Volves), which will show their legendary “iron horses” and present the exhibition “The Crimean Spring” about the events of March 2014. |
