Environmental Classes for Primary Students

On April 12, 2019, the workers of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov gave an environmental class “Don Country Primroses” for the 1–4-year students at the Dudarev Village school.

The children remembered what primroses appeared around their village as soon as the snow cover went off: Snowdrop Siberian, Corydalis, Gagea, Ficaria Verna, and others. The children learned that these plants tolerate the temperature drops well and are not afraid of early spring frosts. Most of primroses are listed in the Rostov Region Red Book of Threatened Species.

Through the educational environmental games the children learned about other primroses of the Don country. The children found the specified plants on an improvised field, “made up” flowers from the variety of their fragments.

At the end of the class the children came to the conclusion that the primroses are not numerous in our forests, and they need to be protected, for the new strong and beautiful plants to appear in the new season in this very place.
