Results of the Contest “Our Sholokhov”

11.04.2019

The final stage of the contest “Our Sholokhov” took place in the excursion and exhibition centre “People’s House” in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya on April 10, 2019. The young talented contestants competed to be the best to know the works by Mikhail Alexandrovich Sholokhov.

Nearly five hundred schoolchildren from five northern districts of the Rostov Region and the Serafimovich District of the Volgograd Region reflected their understanding of the works by the famous countryman in different kinds of creative work. Some children drew their familiar landscapes – a steppe, the River Don country, lost steadings, free Cossack men and women or embodied Sholokhov’s lines in crafts from different materials. The results of this work were shown at the exhibition of the best works in the nominations “Fine Art” and “Arts and Crafts”.

Others chose their favourite fragments of the short stories and novels by M.A.Sholokhov for their performance in the nomination “Declamation”. Ten amateur school groups decided to embody the most well-known Sholokhov’s episodes on stage. They used homemade scenery, dresses from their great-grandmothers’ chests, miraculously preserved tablecloths, pottery and household utensils. Yet, first of all the jury assessed the performance of the young actors. And here, as with the reciters, the struggle was serious.

Now, the results of the contest have been summed up. The authors of the best works are given certificates and free tickets for visiting the structures of the Museum-Reserve. Each winner is awarded a trip to Rostov-on-Don, Azov, Starocherkassk and Tanais.
