Holiday “Steed is the Dearest for Cossack” will Take Place on May 5

On May 5, 2019, a literary ethnographic holiday “Steed is the Dearest for Cossack” (Cossack battle arts of Vyoshenskaya) dedicated to the Great Victory Day and the birthday of Mikhail Sholokhov will take place at the Stables of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov.

The guests of the holiday will learn about the importance of the horse in Cossack life, about the customs and traditions related to military service and preparation of young Cossacks for it. The guests can try themselves in the role of a dashing rider, take part in Cossack battle art competitions, show their strength, boldness, skills of lance throwing and sword and whip mastery.

The holiday makers will be shown competitions in toxophily (traditional and block), air guns shooting – Mosin rifle, Kalashnikov assault rifle, Makarov and Stechkin pistols.

Equestrian performances (show jumping, Cossack drift, fancy riding), motorcycle stunt shows will produce bright impression on the public.

The holiday will be joined by the moto club “Nochniye Volki” (Night Wolves), which will show their legendary “iron horses”, and the exhibition “The Crimean Spring”.

The guests of the holiday will be able to have a ride on horses and ponies in vehicles and on horseback, to take part in the interactive classes and workshops, to taste field kitchen porridge, to take photos and buy souvenirs.
