Exhibition of Sholokhov Museum-Reserve in Berlin

Today, on March 26, 2019, the Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin opens an exhibition “The World of Sholokhov: Don Cossacks” presented by the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov within the international cultural project “Russian Seasons”.

The exhibition project of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov aimed at informing the foreign visitors about the life and work of the great Russian writer Mikhail Sholokhov aroused great interest in the press and attracted great attention of the German public and Russian compatriots.

M.A.Sholokhov contributed greatly in the world culture, and in 1965, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature. The visitors to the exhibition will see Sholokhov’s works published in different foreign languages, photos of the writer among his family and well-known persons, illustrations by the famous artists O.Vereisky and Y.Rebrov, and the newsreel footage.

The objects of culture and life of the Upper Don Cossacks (headgear, footwear) and old photos from the collection of the Museum-Reserve will open the world of the Don Cossacks to German public.

The opening ceremony of the exhibition “The World of Sholokhov: Don Cossacks” will take place at 18.00. The exhibition will run in the Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin till April 3. 2019.

“Russian Seasons” of 2019, will take place in over 70 German cities. The program includes more than 400 events joined by the well-known museums, theatres and creative groups of Russia including the Russian Museum, Tretyakov Picture Gallery, Museum of M.A.Sholokhov, “Kizhi”, Mariinsky and Alexandrinsky theatres, All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography named after S.A.Gerasimov, All-Russian Youth Symphony Orchestra directed by Yury Bashmet, and many other creative groups.
