We Welcome Shrovetide, See Off the Winter and Call Spring!

A merry holiday of Shrovetide will be held at the Museum Stables on March 9, 2019, from 11.00 to 14.00. Children and adults are offered traditional folk festivities and an interesting entertaining program.

The folk festivities will symbolize seeing off the winter and meeting a spring. The guests of the holiday will be treated with traditional pancakes and hot tea, they will ride from the ice slide, will walk along the “streets” of a snow village. Riding on sledges and on horseback will entertain the children and their parents. Everyone can take part in the funny competition for strength and agility, where the daredevil is to gain a present from the tall Shrovetide pole.

At the “Merry Carousel” little children will learn spring songs for the sun to shine brighter and spring to come sooner, and the elder children will take part in active games and traditional amusements of little Cossacks. Girls will be offered to take part in the competitions “Long Braid” and in the game “Make a Pancake”, where one must show her skills of a cook and juggler.

Children and adults will take part in workshops and will have their photos taken wearing Cossack costumes.
