M.A.Sholokhov Memory Day in Moscow

A ceremony of laying flowers at the monument of M.A.Sholokhov took place in Moscow, in Gogol Boulevard, on February 21, 2019. It was joined by A.M.Sholokhov, the writer’s grandson, Deputy Chairman of the RF State Duma Committee for Culture, members of the Russian Union of Writers, students of the Moscow Cadet School named after M.A.Sholokhov, Cossacks of the Union of Cossack Soldiers of Russia and Abroad, the workers of the Cultural Centre of M.A.Sholokhov.

On February 19, before the Memory Day of M.A.Sholokhov, the Cultural Centre of M.A.Sholokhov – Central Children Library No 128 of Moscow, held a scientific and practical seminar “Sholokhov in the XXI Century”. Its members noted, that Sholokhov’s works are topical today, as the author revealed the problem points in the history of Russia, analyzed them and spoke about the need of their peaceful solution.

The speakers including A.M.Sholokhov, prominent Sholokhov scholars, and Cossack representatives spoke about the high spirituality of the work by M.A.Sholokhov, its world significance and about the bright and truthful description of the Don Cossack history, foundations and traditions. The seminar members were unanimous believing that the books of the writer help modern Cossacks maintain their identity and self-identification in the modern fragmented world.
