Memory Day of the Great Writer was Marked in Russia and Abroad

On February days, the memory of Mikhail Alexandrovich was marked with exhibitions, readers’ conferences, creative meetings, thematic socials, scientific and practical seminars in many regions of Russia and in foreign countries. Flowers were laid at the tomb of the writer and his bust in Vyoshenskaya, at the monuments in Rostov-on-Don, Moscow, Nikolayevsk the Volgograd Region, Boguchar the Voronezh Region, Daryinskoye Village in Kazakhstan.

A memorial meeting was held in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, in the Palace of Culture. Exhibitions of books by M.A.Sholokhov are shown in the libraries of the Sholokhov District, meetings with the readers and workshops were held for school students. In the library of Kalinin Village, in class “Sholokhov is the Writer for All Times” the schoolchildren discussed early works by the writer including “Birthmark” celebrating this year the 95th anniversary of its publication. A class “Sholokhov and War” was held in the Sholokhov gymnasium for the middle- and senior-form students. A tournament dedicated to the memory of M.A.Sholokhov took place in the sports complex and at the autodrome of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya.

In Volgograd, library No 17 named after M.A.Sholokhov organized a literary action “We Read Sholokhov” which was joined by another library bearing the name of the writer – the central city library of Zverevo the Rostov Region. The action participants read excerpts from Sholokhov’s works.

In the town of Nikolayevsk the Volgograd Region, the literary department “The House of M.A.Sholokhov” of the local history museum held a meeting of the literary association “Slovo” (Word) which ended with laying flowers at the monument of the writer.

A discussion class “M.A.Sholokhov: Life, Work, Fate” was dedicated to the memory of the great writer at the Borisoglebsk musical school of the Voronezh Region.

In the Republic of Kazakhstan, the workers of the memorial museum of M.A.Sholokhov in Daryinskoye Village gave a thematic class “Mikhail Sholokhov and His Kazakhstan Friends” at the Uralsk college of informational technologies. The museum and the college signed a contract of joint work on spreading Sholokhov heritage. Within the contract the museum renders informational and methodical support to the college in creating the exhibition “Mikhail Sholokhov in Kazakhstan”.

Earlier we told about the opening ceremony of the exhibition “The World of Sholokhov: Don Cossacks” in the Russian House in Belgrade, where the Museum-Reserve takes part in the forum ”Days of Spiritual Culture of Russia in Serbia”.
