Merry Shrovetide at the Stanitsa’s Stables

On March 9, 2019, from 11.00 to 14.00, Shrovetide festival will take place at the stanitsa’s Stables. The workers of the Museum-Reserve have prepared for the residents and guests of Vyoshenskaya an entertainment program interesting for children and adults.

Everyone can ride a sleigh and horseback. Little kids are offered a “Merry Carousel”, where the children holding a ribbon will go in a circle forming a large multi-coloured wheel, a symbol of the sun, and will sing spring songs for the sun to shine brighter. Elder children will take part in traditional fun of young Cossacks, in sacks battle on a log and active games. Girls can join a competition “A Long Braid” and a game “Cook a Pancake”, where they will have to show their mastery of a cook and juggler.

The guests of the festival will taste traditional pancakes and hot tea, ride from the ice slide, take part in a snowball fight, in workshops and will have their photos taken wearing Cossack costumes. There will be an exciting competition in strength and dexterity, where the competitors are to get a present from the tall Shrovetide pole.

We invite residents of Vyoshenskaya with their families, friends and neighbours, and guests of Sholokhov country on March 9, to the Stables of the Museum-Reserve, where a merry holiday of Shrovetide will be held! The festival starts at 11.00.
