Museum Program “Horseback Riding around the Upper Don”
15.02.2019A new museum program “Horseback Riding around the Upper Don” started in the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov to tell children and teenagers about the Don Cossack way of life and about horse breeding features.
The theoretical classes will be held in the Children Museum Centre. Here the children will learn about the folk Cossack traditions including those connected with the military service and combatant horse training.
Before proceeding to the main subject the schoolchildren will be informed about the work of the Museum, the meaning of the terms “museum object”, “exhibit”, “exhibition”, “restoration” and about the acquisition of the museum collections, storage of the museum items and their exhibiting.
During the presentation the members of the class will be shown around the memorial sites of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov located in the north of the Rostov Region and in Rostov-on-Don and will tour about the Old House of M.A.Sholokhov.
During February – March, the Children Museum Centre within the frames of the new program will hold classes “Cossacks are Military People”, “Features of the Don Cossack Way of Life”, “The Horse in Cossack Culture” and others.
Practical classes will be held at the Museum-Reserve Stables. The children will be able to contact directly with the noble animals – horses, will learn how to care for horses, and about the main kinds of horseback riding and fancy riding.
