Victory in the All-Russian Contest “The Best Eco Volunteer Squad”

The project “Literary Forest” presented by the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov at the all-Russian contest to show the results of the Year of Volunteer became the winner in the nomination “Volunteers of the Forest”.

The all-Russian contest “The Best Eco Volunteer Squad” was held by the RF Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and the V.Vernadsky Non-Government Environmental Foundation jointly with the All-Russian Conservation Society, Expo Centre “Reserves of Russia” and the Interregional Environmental public Organization “Green Life” with the purpose to identify and promote the best environmental volunteer initiatives and practices of the Year of Volunteer announced by the RF Presidential Decree No583 of 06.12.2017, “On Holding the Year of Volunteer in the Russian Federation”.

The contest was held in the following nominations: “We Help the Reserves”, ”Eco Volunteers – to the Rivers and Lakes”, “Volunteers of the Forest”, “Eco Volunteers of the City”, “No Rubbish!”, “Eco View”.

In all, 1470 applications from all over the country were submitted to the jury. The contest was joined by the eco volunteer squads of schools and universities, regional ministries and departments, scientific and creative communities of the country, organizations of health care system and cultural sphere, active citizens of all ages – from primary students to citizens of retirement age, teams of enterprises and companies. The contest organization committee and jury marked a wide range and ecological significance of the volunteers’ activities.

The eco volunteer squad “Literary Forest” consists of teenagers between the ages of 10 and 18 from the Rostov, Lipetsk, Orenburg, Voronezh and Volgograd regions, republics of North Ossetia, Chuvashia, Tatarstan, Kazakhstan, Kalmykia, Belarus and the Lugansk People’s Republic are engaged in restoration and preservation of forest resources in our country.

The eco volunteers bring to the homeland of M.A.Sholokhov seedlings of trees and bushes from different parts and regions of Russia, republics of Kalmykia, Kabardino-Balkaria, North Ossetia and near foreign countries creating here a mixed forest symbolizing interaction of ecology and culture. The children develop their skills in planting and greening works and go in for deep studies in the work of the great writers and poets who skillfully depicted pictures of nature in their works.
