Exhibition “My Dear, Dear Family…”

On December 20, 2018, a new exhibition “My Dear, Dear Family…”, the largest in the history of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, will start running in Sholokhov-Centre of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov. Over 500 unique exhibits including more than 100 ones are brought from the memorial house at the Estate of M.A.Sholokhov in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya will tell the visitors about the big and friendly family of the great writer, about the house, where the Sholokhovs lived from 1949, about the family traditions.

The exhibition in Sholokhov-Centre will give the residents and guests of Rostov-on-Don a unique opportunity to learn how the great writer lived, what objects surrounded him in his everyday life. The visitors will learn about the history of the memorial house, see the interior of the lounge with a big dinner table gathering the family when their children, grandchildren, close friends came, and numerous delegations were received there. The visitors can also see one of the rooms, which was a nursery first and later served for the guests visiting the house.

Numerous photos, documents, letters will tell about the friendly Sholokhovs’ family, the writer’s descendants, about the warm and cordial relationship between the family members. The visitors will get into the New Year atmosphere, see the holiday postcards and presents, which the Sholokhovs gave to their children, and vice versa.

One of the halls is devoted to Sholokhov’s library. The visitors will discover for themselves a range of literary interests of Sholokhov family, will see books similar to those in the pre-war library lost during the years of the Great Patriotic War, will be able to look through the pages of the writer’s favourite books.

The exhibition shows items of clothing, headwear, other personal belongings of the writer and his wife, furniture, tableware from the memorial house, souvenirs brought from the overseas trips, presents from his guests, and numerous photos.

We invite everyone to visit the exhibition “My Dear, Dear Family…”, which will run in Sholokhov-Centre during December 20 – February 24, 2019, in: 125/69, Bolshaya Sadovaya, Rostov-on-Don, daily from 10.00 to 17.00 (Wednesday and Friday from 10.00 to 19.00), Monday is day off.
