An Autograph by M.A.Sholokhov Entered the Museum Documentary

09.11.2018

The collection of autographs by M.A.Sholokhov was added with a new document of great historical and cultural importance: the answers to the questions of the “Pravda” correspondent which were written by M.A.Sholokhov.

On October 17, 1965, when the news about awarding Sholokhov the Nobel Prize came from Sweden, the writer gave an interview to the “Pravda” correspondent Y.B.Lukin (Yury Borisovich Lukin (1907–1998), a literary critic, screenwriter, the author of a number of books and articles about M.A.Sholokhov, was one of the first editors of the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”). This interview was published in the collected works of M.A.Sholokhov entitled “Answers to the Questions of the “Pravda” Correspondent” (Collected works in 8 volumes. Moscow, 1980. Pages 353–355).

The text was handwritten by M.A.Sholokhov on three pages. In the upper left corner of the second page there is a specification [handwritten by Y.B.Lukin]: “visiting Nikolay Streltsov by his brother-general, whose prototype was the life and combat matters of general M.F.Lukin”. This insert was included in the text of Sholokhov’s answers to the correspondent (Ibid, page 354).
