NewsWelcome to the Exhibitions from the Collections of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov02.11.2018The People’s House started showing two exhibitions from the collections of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov. The exhibition “Poetry of Nature: the Don Landscapes” shows paintings by the well-known artists, and the exhibition “In the Country of Porcelain and Faience” tells about ceramic tableware manufactured at the famous Kuznetsov’s factories late in the XIX – early in the XX centuries. The opening ceremony included the performance of the folk group “Donskoye Siyaniye” headed by A.Chudin, and the museum worker V.Antipov recited his own poem. O.A.Anistratenko, Director of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, noted the importance and significance of the exhibitions for the cultural environment not only of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya but also of the north of the Rostov Region. The collection of the Museum-Reserve includes more than 77000 museum items revealing the life and work of the writer, as well as representing the history, culture and lifestyle of the Upper Don region. Each object is unique in its way having an artistic and scientific value, and the new exhibitions enable the visitors to see the new interesting collections. The audience was warmly greeted by A.M.Sholokhov, Deputy Chairman of the Cultural Committee of the RF State Duma. He underlined the great importance of the museum exhibitions for strengthening the united cultural space of the country. The first visitors looked into the collection of paintings by the artists Boris Shcherbakov, Ilya Khashkhayan, Rashit Maksyutov, Valery Kulchenko, Alexander Timofeyev, Natalya Chubanova, and sketches of the scenery and costumes for the opera “The Quiet Don” by I.I.Dzerzhinsky made by Anatoly Mazanov in the 1930s. On the low ground floor of the excursion and exhibition centre there is shown a collection of ceramic tableware made at the Kuznetsov’s factories late in the XIX – early XX centuries, and the tableware and models of the porcelain and faience sculptural miniature of the Soviet period. This collection is only a part of the objects from the stores “Material Monuments” which has 9000 storage units including 1250 different kinds of tableware (ceramic, glass, metal, and others). The new exhibitions enable the residents and guests of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya to see what is kept in the Museum stores. Welcome to the excursion and exhibition centre “People’s House!
