22.10.2018

An opening ceremony of the exhibition “Images of Unfaded Pages”. Book Graphics on the Works by M.A.Sholokhov” took place on October 15, 2018, in the Belgorod State Literary Museum. It was a continuation of the long cooperation between the two museums. In 2016, the exhibition “The Don.Sholokhov.Russia” had a successful run in Belgorod country.

At the opening ceremony, K.S.Kurgansky, Deputy Head of the Regional Department of the Internal and Personnel Policy, and I.A. Klimova, Director of the Belgorod State Literary Museum, thanked the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov for the exhibition. In response, O.A.Anistratenko, Director of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, noted, that the given exhibition will enable the viewers to get a new understanding of Sholokhov’s work and become an incentive to read his works anew.

The visitors saw the works by the well-known artists-illustrators Orest Vereisky, Yury Rebrov, Viktor Galdyayev, Vladimir Baklanov, Valentina and Leonid Petrov, Kukryniksy. The illustrators, each having his unique drawing style, pictured the episodes from the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don”, “Virgin Soil Upturned”, “Tales from the Don”, “The Fate of a Man”, “They Fought for Their Country”.

A great attraction was the portrait of M.A.Sholokhov made by the artist V.F.Dorozhinsky in an original manner: the work is made in a handwritten font and includes over eight chapters of the novel “Virgin Soil Upturned”.

The exhibition will run until December 19, 2018, in the Belgorod State Literary Museum, in: 38, Preobrazhenskaya Str., Belgorod.
