Action “Literary Forest” in the Homeland of M.A.Sholokhov

17.10.2018

On October 16, 2018, the Museum-Reserve started a volunteer action “Literary Forest” which includes laying “Forests of the “Quiet Don” and “Chekhov’s “Cherry Orchard”.

Following successful laying the “Garden of Russian Writers Named after M.A.Sholokhov” in Stanitsa Karghinskaya the members of the literary association “Vyoshenskiye Rodniki” headed by G.F.Rychnev, member of the Union of Russian Writers, proposed to the Museum-Reserve to extend the lay of gardens in the Don country.

On October 16, a small “Chekhov’s Cherry Orchard” was laid. The action was joined by the central library of Vyoshenskaya, representatives of the literary-poetic association “Zhavoronok” of the Verkhnedonskoy District, who brought cherry seedlings and fertile black earth for the trees to root in better.

On October 18 and 19, the initiative of the elder generation will be supported by the students of Sholokhov gymnasium of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya and 18 teams – participants of the relay quiz “Forest Tier” to lay “Forest of “The Quiet Don”. On these days the tree varieties described in the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” by M.A.Sholokhov will be planted: poplars, willows, oaks, birches, elms, maples and others (20 species in all).

The time will pass, the young saplings will take root, and the visitors of the forest park will be able to have a rest in the shade of the trees brilliantly sung by the literature classics whose names are associated with the Don country,– Sholokhov and Chekhov.
