NewsAutumn Environmental Week in the Homeland of M.A.Sholokhov12.10.2018During October 15–19, 2018, the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov will hold an autumn environmental week which includes a number of environmental and literary nature protection events. The museum workers will hold for the students of Andropovskaya school an entertaining “Phyto Marathon” aimed at a deeper knowledge of the plant biodiversity of the Don country. This game will help the children see the beauty of the environment, understand the use of plants, flowers and herbs. A literary action “Forest of the “Quiet Don” will be the next event of the environmental week. It will be participated by the members of the literary creative association “Vyoshenskiye Rodniki” and the central library of Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya. On this day, the trees of the varieties described in the novel “And Quiet Flows the Don” by M.A.Sholokhov will be planted and “Chekhov’s Cherry Orchard” will be laid. The “Land-Art” contestants will submit their landscape compositions to the jury. A theoretic contest “Forest Decathlon” organized by the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov jointly with the South-European Research Station will help the young ecologists to show their knowledge of the main natural sciences: pedology, botany, dendrology, forest zoology, nature conservation, and others. For the sixth time, the relay quiz “Forest Tier” will take place. It will join the winners of the first stage held in Novocherkassk and the young ecologists from 18 schools of the Rostov, Volgograd, Voronezh regions, the Republic of Kalmykia. The Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov holds this entertaining competition jointly with the Novocherkassk Engineering and Reclamation Institute named after A.Kortunov of the Don State Agrarian University and the Don Small Forest Academy. The autumn environmental week in the homeland of M.A.Sholokhov will be ended with the “Arbor Day” holiday. The participants will develop their practical skills of planting seedlings of trees and shrubs. We hope that the events of the autumn environmental week will arouse in the children interest in the wildlife and will teach them to take care of the environment.
