Action “My Native Street”

The National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve jointly with the Sholokhov and Bokovsky district educational departments hold an action “My Native Street” participated by the schools of Kruzhilin Village and Stanitsa Karghinskaya. On October 11, 2018, the first stage of the youth action took place in Kruzhilin Village.

The action is aimed at development of the volunteer movement in search and research activities.

The young villagers with great interest studied the history of the collective farm named after Budyonny in their homeland. Later it was renamed “Kruzhilin” state farm. The action participants and villagers were given an excursion about the very first village street named then Vasilkovaya and a meeting with the old-timers. It was very interesting for the children to listen to the story about the people who lived in Vasilkovaya Street in prewar and postwar time and about organization of the first radio centre. Then they studied the materials placed on the stand about the first villagers of the street. Namely in this street there lived the director of the state farm “Kruzhilinsky” N.A.Bulavin, who, in 1984, became the first director of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov.

Among the residents of Vasilkovaya Street there was the family of the Gorins. Yekaterina Nikitichna Gorina was a foreman, who led a construction of shops, a hospital, a kindergarten, a new school, a club, and other buildings of the village. She raised two sons: the elder son, Valery Viktorovich, took part in the investigation of the disaster on the submarine “Kursk”, the younger son, Vladimir Viktorovich, works as director of Kruzhilin Village school.

The action “My Native Street” became an event for all generations of the villagers, who gathered in Vasilkovaya Street. The young volunteer researchers performed the well-known song, which gave the name of the action, then all the participants and villagers were invited for tea.

The next stage of the action will take place in Stanitsa Karghinskaya on October 18, 2018.
