Sholokhov Bust Opening Ceremony in Stanitsa Ust-Buzulukskaya

On September 22, 2018, in Stanitsa Buzulukskaya the Volgograd Region, an opening ceremony of the bust of M.A.Sholokhov took place. The event was timed to the celebration of the 388th anniversary of the stanitsa.

The residents and guests of the holiday were greeted by I.M.Svinukhov, Head of the Alexeyevsky District, Y.A.Nikolyukin, Head of the Ust-Buzuluk rural settlement, T.Y.Turchin, Deputy Head of the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve.

The bust of M.A.Sholokhov made by sculptor M.P.Serdyukov was presented to the stanitsa according to the program “Alley of the Russian Glory” and was erected in the Literary Square now named after the writer. This became a long-awaited present for all the admirers of the work of M.A.Sholokhov and for the lovers of poetry from the local club “Gorizont”, which gathers the talented residents.

Near the writer’s bust there was a performance, where the children pictured Sholokhov’s personages, recited fragments from the writer’s books and performed poetry and songs dedicated to M.A.Sholokhov by the local authors. Also, the holiday public was shown an exhibition of arts and crafts, and was entertained with traditional Cossack dishes.
