Complex Restoration of the Estate of M.A.Sholokhov Goes on

According to the restoration project, the National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve continues a complex restoration of the central site – the Estate of M.A.Sholokhov in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya (94, Podtyolkov Str.), where the writer lived and worked during 1949 – 1984.

The Estate is an ensemble, an object of cultural heritage of the federal significance which includes: a memorial house, a wing, a barn with an ice-house, a garage, a separate cellar and fencing.

In 2017, a restoration of the wing and garage was carried out. After the restoration the wing houses an exhibition (“Kitchen”) and an office space. The garage resumes exposing the cars belonged to M.A.Sholokhov in different years.

At present, a bidding procedure is conducted for the works on an overhaul of the object outdoor networks: water supply, water disposal, power supply and in-site heating networks. The work will be carried out in two stages in 2018 and 2019.

The subsequent restoration stages include restoration of the memorial house and the barn to follow with the work on preservation and restoration of improvement elements.

When carrying out the restoration work it is important to preserve the historical and cultural value and integrity of the cultural heritage object for the present and future generations.
