Sholokhov Museum at the VIII International Festival “City the Garden” in Voronezh

The National M.A.Sholokhov Museum-Reserve took part in the VIII Voronezh international festival of gardens and flowers “City the Garden”, which took place during August 30 – September 2, 2018, on the territory of the Voronezh central park within the Year of Volunteer and the Year of Japan in Russia.

The festival visitors were especially attracted by the “EthnoHamlet”, where everyone could learn about the features of rural life, arts and crafts traditional for the Don masters.

At the Farmstead, near Cossack kuren, the workers of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov held workshops and told about secrets of pottery, wattle fence making, grass mat making, painting on glass, making dolls of bast and fabric. Each visitor could send a postcard from the “EthnoHamlet” to their relatives using an old pen and ink.

The guests were interested in the work of M.A.Sholokhov, the history of the Don country, the work of the Museum-Reserve, new exhibitions, ethnographic and literary folklore holidays held in the homeland of the writer. Leaving the Cossack kuren (house) the visitors expressed their hope for new meetings at the festival “City the Garden” next year.
