06.07.2018

During July 2–6, 2018, “All-Russian School of Writers” was held in the South Federal District, in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya, the homeland of the Nobel Prize winner in literature. It was organized by the Foundation for the Socio-Economic and Intellectual Programs jointly with the journal “Moskva” under the financial support of the Federal Agency for Press and Mass Communications.

The forum of young writers of Russia, near and far foreign countries aimed at discovery of new names in fiction and support for the young authors writing in Russian has been held since 2001. To increase the audience and involve the literary public of the regions, the work with writers this year is carried out in two-stages. At the first stage there were held eight schools of young writers patronized by the literary journals of Moscow or Saint-Petersburg. At the second stage, the XVIII International forum of young writers of Russia, near and foreign countries will be held in September 2018, in Ulyanovsk. It will be joined by the most successful young writers.

Over 20 young writers from the Rostov, Volgograd and Astrakhan regions, the Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of the Crimea took part in the work of the School of Young Writers of the South Federal District in Stanitsa Vyoshenskaya.

The members of the opening ceremony were welcomed by V.V.Artyomov, Head of the Vyoshenskaya School of Young Writers, chief editor of the literary fiction journal “Moskva”, O.A.Anistratenko, Director of the Museum-Reserve of M.A.Sholokhov, and T.O.Osipova, docent of the South Federal University, Candidate of Philological Sciences. The ceremony was followed by the presentation of books by the young writers.

The rich daily program included round table discussions “Young Literature of the South of Russia” and “Game” Essays Experience in Poetry”, meetings with the well-known men of letters A.Kozhedub, V.Artyomov and V.Kiktenko, daily workshops (prose, criticism, – the leader was V.Kiktenko; poetry – the leader was V.Artyomov).

The project participants visited the Estate of M.A.Sholokhov, laid flowers at his tomb and made a tour to Kruzhilin Village, the home country of the great writer.

The project organizers are sure that the school of young writers will foster an advance in the search for talented young writers and publication of their best works for the wide range of Russian readers and will help the development of domestic literature and spreading the Russian language.
